Mothering the Mother

26th March

9.30am - 4.30pm

This special mothers day retreat will be all about 'Mothering the Mother'. As busy mothers we spread ourselves thin to care for our families. We hear the phrase is takes a village, but most of us are left without a village and often with little support or time for ourselves. This is a day to slow down, take a breath, reconnect to you, feel heard and seen, to feel taken care of for a day.

The Venue

Rownhams House is a beautiful Georgian House, situated in 12 acres of gardens and woodland with its own magical lake. We will be using the grand library, a stunning room flooded with natural light. To the side is the beautiful reading room which feels full of history and has such a calming energy and doors leading to the beautiful gardens, woodland and lake. Located just outside Southampton with plenty of free parking.

Walking meditation

I hope to spend as much time as the weather allows outside in the private gardens and woodland. At some point during the day we will head out to do a walking meditation.

Walking meditation is perfect for someone who finds it difficult to sit still and meditate. Thich Nhat Hanh says we should walk like we are the happiest person in the world, setting no goals or destination. Making steps as if you are printing peace, serenity and happiness with each step.

Mindful Craft Workshop

I will be combining a mindfulness class with a craft workshop to create a finished piece that you can take away to remind you of the day and how amazing you are.

This session will introduce you to some of the benefits & methods of journalling, as well as journalling prompts we can try together. The healthy practice of regular journalling as a parent can help you to explore, understand, acknowledge & accept your journey & any changes in identity you maybe experiencing since becoming a parent.
